Lake Mulwala foreshore Toilet Facility
I designed this public toilet facility as a contemporary, low-maintenance community asset that responds to both its landscape setting and everyday public use. The building adopts a simple, linear form, articulated through layered materials and curved screening elements to soften its presence within the park environment.
The façade combines durable metal cladding with timber batten screening, creating a balance between robustness and warmth. The sweeping, wave-like timber screen provides visual interest while offering privacy and passive ventilation. Perforated metal panels and patterned upper screens allow natural light and airflow to penetrate the interior spaces, reducing reliance on artificial systems.
The gently curved roof and extended eaves improve weather protection and support long-term durability. Openings and access points are carefully positioned to promote intuitive wayfinding and universal accessibility. Throughout the design, I prioritised resilience, ease of maintenance, and visual integration with the surrounding landscape, ensuring the facility serves the community both functionally and aesthetically.
