Bortolot Road Huon Creek

This home is shaped by a strong commitment to working with the site rather than imposing on it. The elevated, linear pavilion form allows the building to sit lightly across the sloping terrain, creating a sense of calm horizontality while maintaining minimal disturbance to the natural ground. Its proportions and placement were carefully calibrated to capture views, manage privacy, and optimise the way light moves through the interior.

Extensive glazing along the key elevations isn’t just an aesthetic choice—it’s a deliberate response to orientation and landscape. These openings frame the surrounding environment, draw natural light deep into the home, and create a continuous dialogue between inside and out. The result is a living environment that feels open, connected, and grounded in its setting.

Material restraint and clear structural expression reinforce this approach. Every element has been selected to support a balance of openness and enclosure, ensuring the home feels both protected and expansive. The architecture becomes a quiet mediator between the occupants and the site, enhancing comfort, performance, and the overall experience of place.
