Layered Contemporary Pavilion Architecture

Layered Contemporary Pavilion

I approached this project as a contemporary, minimalist residence, grounded in modernist principles and a strong connection to the landscape. My intent was to create a calm, understated architectural expression where form, proportion, and light define the character of the building rather than applied decoration.
The design is composed as a series of low, horizontally expressed pavilion-like volumes. By breaking the building into distinct elements, I was able to reduce its visual mass and allow it to sit comfortably within the site. The strong horizontal roof lines and flat planes anchor the home to the landscape and reinforce a sense of stability and openness.
A key driver of the design was the relationship between indoor and outdoor living. I have used large, recessed openings to dissolve the boundary between internal spaces and the surrounding terraces and pool, allowing daily living to extend naturally outdoors. This approach supports a relaxed, resort-style way of living while maximising views, natural light, and cross-ventilation.
