Contemporary Australian residential architecture

Pickworth Street Thurgoona

The consideration of the design had taken into account a number of factors, allowing the home to work with the sloping site rather than against it. The multi‑level arrangement steps naturally with the terrain, creating a sense of flow as each level is positioned to optimise light, views, and privacy.

On arrival, the commercially glazed entry lobby immediately reveals how the building engages with its environment. The raised roof form draws natural light deep into the space, creating a bright, welcoming volume that sets the tone for the rest of the home.

The upper level is reserved as a private parents’ retreat, elevated to capture long views across the pool and out toward the golf course. Its placement responds directly to orientation and outlook, creating a calm, secluded zone within the home.

Throughout, the architecture balances refinement with functionality. Every decision—from the stepped floor levels to the glazing strategy and material selection—supports a residence that feels connected to its site, comfortable to live in, and cohesive in its expression.
